Healthy Diabetic Eating and Diets

If you have diabetes, and have heard the phrase “diabetic diet,” you probably think it’s a lifetime sentence of bread and water.

Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. While it is true, that you’ll have to carefully manage your blood sugar in order to prevent the complications of diabetes, you can still enjoy a healthy, well-balanced, delicious variety of meals, filled with many of your favorite foods-- just in moderation, of course.

Healthy diabetic eating includes limiting sweets and refined sugars; eating often; being careful about when and how many carbohydrates you eat; eating plenty of whole-grain foods, fruits, and vegetables; eating less fat; and limiting your use of alcohol.

Just remember to count those calories and those carbs. And count on living a healthier, happier life.
